My parents have recently added to their hen collection & are now the proud owners of four very sweet chicks! When we heard of their arrival we rushed over to meet them. The children (& LEE!) were VERY excited!

The children learnt very quickly how to hold a chick carefully & safely. Lee had never held a chick before either.

Luke adored the chicks! He said that they were just like the ones in the Shaun the Sheep episode called 'Who's the Daddy?'

Annie-Joy was delighted to hold the tiny fluffy chicks....

.... Timmy was in his element with them & a natural with them....

....which is more than can be said for Jordan who liked the idea of holding the chicks but actually found it a little bit frightening especially when they moved about in his hands!! At least he gave it a go.

The kids helped my Dad to clean out the older hens house & run which they enjoyed very much.

While they were doing that my Dad introduced the chicks to their aunts. They viewed each other with suspicion!

We had to be careful to look before we stepped anywhere!!

The chicks had a lovely time exploring in the garden.

They didn't even mind being held a lot by the children. Aren't they gorgeous little things?

Very soon the chicks grew sleepy & went back into their cardboard box house in my parents conservatory. The hens then had the chance for a peck in the garden too. Well, that's all for now- time for a cuppa I think! Lee & I lead the worship at our church for the first time this morning which was great but we both feel a bit sleepy now! Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Yes it's wearing 'doing' church isn't it? But worth it!
Chicks are very happy and growing. They love their new ark- when it's not too cold and raining like now!

A memorable day with chicks and kiddiwinks!
It reminded me of a long time ago when two little girls, called Emily & Helen, welcomed some day old chicks which came to stay with us for the Easter holidays.
Shortly afterwards I unexpectedly received a nice fat royalty cheque from my publisher and we spent it all on a hen house and six red hens!
Lovely bloggins E!
