Yes, I know it's been a loooooong time since I posted on here properly. Somehow life seems rather busier than usual & yet when I think about what we have done in recent weeks it doesn't seem to amount to that much more than usual. Anyway, life is different for us in the Davies Tribe right now. I have been busy with many arty creations & I have just learnt to knit too which is keeping me occupied! I am also enjoying gardening in our rather modest patch. It's very fulfilling to grow & nurture plants I must say! Lee & I are now leading the worship & music at our
new church. Our new venture to
St Mary's is both exciting & daunting but we know that God is leading us as we begin a new chapter in our lives. Lee is about to start a preaching course run by Liverpool Cathedral & is going to be confirmed by the Bishop of Warrington later this month. It's all very different from his roots in
Frontline Church but it's all good! :o)
So, what about the jelly fish you may ask? Over the Easter holidays the boys enjoyed attending the Holiday Bible Club at a local church. You may remember they went
last year too. This year, the theme was the beach. Luke has long lamented the demise of
his jelly fish costume that I made for his nursery school party oh so long ago & requested that I make him another one please! I decided that, due to lack of time to purchase a clear umbrella & the need to make a costume that would last a bit longer, that I would make the costume from a straw hat covered in fabric & adorned with ribbons, tulle netting & beady trims. The result was rather good I think! Luke was over the moon! Jelly is well loved & sits proudly on his bed.
Jordan went in the fish costume I made for Timmy at the same nursery party. He won first prize in the costume competition much to Timmy's annoyance (he missed out on sweeties you see)!
Timmy went as a pirate re-using the costume I made for their
school party celebrating Liverpool's 800th birthday. He loves his treasure chest! It was worth the time & effort to make three of them as they are home to many of the boys treasure finds to this day.
The church where the holiday club was held has a lovely little cafe where we all had lunch one day as a special treat. On the final day we bought the children a shark cupcake each to take home & eat.
We had to wait until the final day for the cupcakes as they sold out SO quickly during the rest of the week. They also had ice cream cupcakes iced to look like the top of a Mr Whippy ice cream with a flake stuck in it too!
On the Friday night we all went to a Family Fun Night & watched to a bible story acted out & learnt some to the songs & lessons that the children had been doing all week. It was great fun! The highlight for the boys was The Ring of Ridicule. The R of R is a huge inflatable ring covered with all kinds of things like plastic spades & buckets. It was very very daft! Each day the loosing team leader had to wear it & go out in public wearing it & bring back photographic evidence. One leader went to the cinema wearing it (how she sat in a cinema seat I don't know!) & another went shopping with his son in Iceland wearing it. He even got the check out guy to pose for a photo wearing it too! It was absolutely hilarious! Anyway, before they announce the loser they asked a child to stand up & say in a booming voice 'The Ring of Ridicule!' & after they had said that the band played 'dun dun dun' style music (if you see what I mean!). On the Family Fun Night night it was Luke's turn to announce it. He used all his dramatic & comedic talents to do a fabulous job! He's on stage with Rob & John, the leaders of the holiday club in the photo above. Afterwards the leaders all said how great our boys were, what a lot of fun they were & what a fantastic job they all did announcing The Ring of Ridicule (they had each had a turn earlier in the week). We were really blessed by the whole week & the hard work & dedication of the holiday club team. Even now, almost two months on, Timmy can still remember the bible memory verse (Luke 5:10) 'Do not be afraid for I will make you fishers of men.'
It seems I am fighting a loosing battle to keep my blog up to date at the moment but I am going to stubbornly persist! Here are some piccies from our Easter Saturday walk with my sister Helen & her husband Ian. All over the park are large areas covered with daffodils as part of the Marie Curie Field of Hope. As my mother would say, they are GLORIOUS!! ;o)
AJ admired them for a long time while I took photos & picked up all the broken flower stems to take home.

Putney & Cheyne enjoyed a dip in the stream. They pulled Helen out of the water & up the bank with great enthusiasm!

And the broken, dirt covered & insect nibbled daffodils in all their glory on the kitchen window sill at home. They were worth all the glares & comments from folk in the park who tut tutted because they thought I had picked them! And after lunch we all enjoyed watching The Boat Race. I was really glad Cambridge won at last! Helen was miffed that Oxford lost! Ah! It was indeed a good Saturday! Thanks for visiting us Helen & Ian! :o)
