For Jordan's 5th birthday his friend Josh bought him a build your own wooden train pack. It says on the box that it was suitable from age 6 so I put it away for a while. Out of the blue Jordan suddenly asked if he could make the train so we did! I got play dough out for Timmy & Luke & we got started! There were about 25 wooden pieces that all had to be glued together & then held for 30 seconds. Jordan put the glue on & I held the pieces together while he counted to 31 each time. It was jolly fiddly & the boys had a good giggle at me every time the pieces slipped apart again coz I would say 'Oh pants!' or 'Bother!' which they thought was so funny!

Eventually the train was stuck together & dry enough to start the painting!

Jordan chose the colour scheme & did a really good job of painting. He did it all himself except for the fiddly bits behind the wheels which I did. Timmy & Luke enjoyed watching Jordan work.

When it was all painted he stuck the stickers on & went off to play with his train delighted that the wheels really moved round!

Jordan was so proud of what he had made. It certainly was impressive work! I was not quite so impressed when he woke me up at 4:20AM the following morning asking if he could get dressed so he could play with his train! On the other hand though, I was glad that he couldn't wait to jump out of bed, even at that ridiculous hour, because it was so wonderful to see his sense of achievement & delight in what he had made. It made making it all the more fun!

Wow well done Jordan good work, your train is brill, good choice of colours & i love the painting face you have,my painting face includes my tongue!!have fun playing with it. x x x
When Jordan came to see us a little while ago he told me he had a new train. I said, very casually, that I didn't like trains (teasing of course!) and he replied,
"Well you'll like this one- it's the best in the world!"
He wasn't boasting, it was honest pride. How lovely to spend time making something so worth admiring. It'll probably become a family heirloom -if it survives the play of three or four children! Well done Jordan and Emily- what a team!
This is such a great idea, and i love the shots you have of him creating it. Jordan, you did an awesome job and I have to say it is the best train i have seen in a long time!
Hi Emily, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment a t my Britgirl Blog...
firstly -that train looks great! much better results than I was expecting there!
Secondly, you asked about my mulit photos? they are inserted as one image, --->made up on a blank background in my photoshop software, captions and wording added there, then saved as 'new forest multi pic' or whatever. Hope that helps!

Aw it was lovely to see the finished train when we visited~Jordan was so excited to show us it and he really did a grand job of putting it all together I thought! So it was great to see these photos of the work in progress too! He looks so grown up concentrating on his project! Brilliant!
