At the beginning of August we took a trip to the
National Railway Museum in York. We were picking up a pram from Bradford that we had bought on eBay (it's a REALLY great pram if you are thinking we are mad to go so far to get it!) so thought it would be fun to carry on the few miles to York & make a day of it that the boys would love. And love it they did!!

With each train they saw, whether it was a life size one, a Thomas toy or a model train, they got very animated & talked louder & faster! It was great that they loved being in the museum so much but their enthusiasm was exhausting! ;O) Luke went round the museum making train noises pretending to be a train too!

The highlights were seeing The Rocket train, which they know comes from Liverpool & was first tested on the Liverpool-Manchester Railway which begins by their school (the area is called The Rocket actually!) and also...

...going on Shinkensen, the Japanese Bullet train. You can sit inside the train & watch a video all about what it's like to go on the real Bullet in Japan. We had to visit the Bullet train several times & watch the video twice at each visit!!!!!! All in all the trip was a great success & one we will definitely be making again in the future. You can't beat a day out that is fun & free (except for getting there) now can you??

And here is a piccie just for my mum! Have you seen it before?????

Well, having been born in Enfield in 1948 (the area was called the Halfway House), we used to get on a double decker London Transport GREEN bus and have one and 3 halves to "the Town" as it was ALWAYS called! We used to get off near the station and sing "down by the station early in the morning" but as far as I remember we never used to see much activity going on there. Perhaps it was a branch line (now I am a Thomas expert!). Enfield Town was an end of the line station but there were about 7 more busier stations on different lines going to London Southend etc.(One was called Ponder's End always known as Ponder's Plonk!) We went on big black steam trains for our seaside hols and Ben and I were terrified and hid in the double pushchair under all the baggage! Richard being a bit older was OK! It was a very long time ago. xxxx
The pics of the boys are great so glad it was popular and FREE too! xxxxxxxxxx

Looks like the boys had great fun at the museam! It's so good that you are showing them the history of the things they love! And how cool that the Rocket comes from Liverpool and the boys were able to see it in person so to speak! So glad too that you got an ace pram for such a bargain!! hugs xxx
